Game mode
Cryo
An arena game with a quiz inside it. Students throw frost charges at each other and answer a question to reload.
- Up to 20 players
- Phones, tablets or laptops
- Free to host, and students need no account
How to win
Throw frost charges at other students. Each hit damages them; 3 hits freezes them for 10 seconds. Most knockouts in 5 minutes wins.
What happens in a game
- Live arenaMove around a shared frozen arena in real time — this is the "game layer"
- ThrowTap to launch a frost charge in your facing direction. Auto-aim snaps to the nearest target.
- Answer to reloadOut of ammo? A question takes over your screen. Correct = +3 charges.
- Frozen for 10sThree hits and you are out for ten seconds, then you respawn with a full kit
Why it works in a lesson
Cryo separates the quiz layer from the game layer — students who answer faster get more ammo, but positioning and timing in the arena matter just as much. Struggling students can hide and slow-burn; strong students become high-value targets the whole class wants to knock out. It flattens the leaderboard dynamic and keeps everyone engaged even off a hot answering streak.
The other game modes
Every mode plays from the same card set, so changing mode never means rewriting questions.
Boss BattleThe whole class fights one boss. Right answers hit it, wrong ones heal it.
RacerEach right answer moves you forward. Play solo or in teams.
KaboomAnswer right to pass the bomb on. Hold it when it goes off and your points go to everyone else.
SabotageRight answers earn coins and cards that freeze, steal, swap or shield.
ThroneOne student holds the throne and the rest of the class tries to take it.
SplycrQuick-fire questions. A streak stacks your multiplier up to three times.
OutbreakA first-person zombie arena for laptops. Answer right to get back in.
