Privacy policy

1. Who we are

Splycr is operated as part of Cramly, a suite of education tools. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data when you use Splycr.

2. Data we collect

We collect the following data:

• Account data: Email address and authentication credentials (managed by Supabase Auth).
• Content data: Question sets, titles, descriptions, and other content you create.
• Usage data: Credit balance, generation history, and basic analytics (page views, feature usage).
• Game data: Player names and scores during live game sessions (temporary, not permanently stored).
• Homework data: When a student hands in homework, the first name they type, their answers and their score, stored with the homework for up to 60 days (see section 6).

3. How we use your data

• To provide the Splycr service (hosting games, generating questions, managing sets).
• To track your credit balance and usage.
• To respond to support requests.
• To improve the service.

4. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase: Authentication and database hosting.
• Anthropic (Claude AI): AI question generation. Your subject, topic, and curriculum preferences are sent to generate questions. No personal data is sent.
• Stripe: Payment processing (when applicable). We do not store card details.

5. Data storage and security

Your data is stored securely on Supabase infrastructure with row-level security policies. We use HTTPS for all data transmission. We do not sell your data to third parties.

6. Student data

Students joining games are not required to create accounts. Player names entered during live game sessions are temporary and are not permanently stored.

Homework needs no student account either. When a student hands in homework, the first name they type, their answers and their score are stored with that homework. Only the teacher who set the homework can see them.

Homework and its hand-ins are deleted 60 days after the homework was set. A teacher can delete a homework, and its hand-ins with it, sooner from their Homework tab.

No student personal data is collected beyond what is entered during a game session or handed in with homework.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request deletion of your account and associated data.
• Export your question sets.

8. Cookies

Splycr uses local storage for authentication tokens and theme preferences. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected with an updated date at the top of this page.
